A Quick Update

Happy Halloween! Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. To bring you up to date, the spinal epidural procedure that I had gotten didn't work at all, which explains the lack of posting. In fact, my back seems to feel a bit worse and it's hard for me to sit for more than a few minutes. My days have consisted of lying on the couch and bonding with the TV with two comfy pillows and a favorite blanket. Just wonderful, isn't it?

I've heard that for a lot of people, the first epidural doesn't always work, but the second and subsequent ones work very well. Unfortunately, they can't be spaced any closer than a month apart, so I'm scheduled for another one on November 8th. Lucky for me, I now know what to expect and won't even have to worry about anything, including the insertion of the IV (I hate needles!) and whether or not I'll be able to feel the epidural procedure.

Tonight the kids are dressing up as Darth Vader and a Barbie princess. Originally, one wanted to be a pirate and the other a scary vampire, but when it came time to shop for costumes they changed their mind (I had a feeling that was going to happen! LOL). Cute! I may have to sit this year out and stay home to pass out treats. We bought some play doh to pass out to the younger kids, and some candy for the older ones. We'll see how long I can resist before dipping into the candy stash. ;)

Poked, Pricked and Prodded

The lidocaine shots that I had on Monday didn't work. Four needle pokes all for nothing. :( Good news is that my insurance approval came in yesterday and I'm now scheduled for the spinal epidural on the 30th of this month. It's so soon and I find myself relieved and petrified at the same time. I can't imagine what it will be like to be pain free, or at least have most of it alleviated. It's been so long...since 1996 I think? Getting there is what frightens me. Well, at least I've had an epidural before (twice!) so I know what to expect, and I'll be lying faced down so I won't have to see the needle coming at me! Think happy thoughts! Think happy thoughts!
